Two winners from JR-West Hotels, including the runner-up, at the 19th JR Hotel Group Cooking Contest!
JR-West Hotels, operated by West Japan Railway Hotel Development Ltd. (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Masafumi Ise), won second place and the design award at the 19th JR Hotel Group Cooking Contest (held on August 24, 2023; organized by JR Hotel Group), in which five participants from the group hotels competed.
At JR-West Hotels, we strive daily to improve the value of "food" in order to be a base for high-quality travel where our guests can enjoy delicious meals with peace of mind. As part of this effort, we participate in the "JR Hotel Group Culinary Contest" with the aim of improving the skills of our group hotel culinary staff.
This contest, organized by the JR Hotel Group, has been held annually since 2003. This year, with "Tamba deer from Hyogo Prefecture" as the common theme, 21 contestants from all over Japan, as well as from the group's hotels in Taipei, created original dishes that showcased their skills and ideas.
Despite the challenging nature of game meat, each contestant showcased the results of their daily culinary training. As a result, Hiroto Tsuji from Hotel Granvia Kyoto won second place, and Fukuto Matsubara from Hotel Granvia Osaka received the design award from JR-West Hotels.
