Umekoji Potel Kyoto

Rediscover Japan's bathing culture! "Town Bathhouse Gallery" & Kamishibai (picture story show) by Sento (Public Bath) idols. A free event in collaboration with Milk Soap!

Umekoji Potel KYOTO (General Manager: Misako Matsui), operated by JR West Holonic Co., Ltd. (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City / Representative Director: Ichiro Nagata), will be holding the "Town Sento (Public Bath) Gallery" at "Blank" on the 2nd floor of Umekoji Potel Kyoto for three days from May 16th (Fri), 17th (Sat), and 18th (Sun), in collaboration with Gyunyu Sekken Kyoshinsha Co., Ltd. (Joto-ku, Osaka City / Representative Director: Teiji Miyazaki), with whom they have collaborated since the hotel's opening, providing original amenities for guest rooms (Potel original logo red box soap) and Umekoji public bath Poteyu.

This event will showcase traditional Sento (Public Bath) items such as the reception desk and noren (curtain), allowing visitors to experience the charm of old-fashioned public Sento (Public Bath). There will also be a quiz where participants can answer questions while touring Sento (Public Bath) gallery, and on Saturday, May 17th, Sento (Public Bath) kamishibai idol "Okyan" will perform an original kamishibai (picture story show) about bathing. The event aims to pass on Japan's traditional bathing culture to the next generation, while also offering content that can be enjoyed by all generations, providing new discoveries and a sense of nostalgia.
